Director Rajiv Kumar’s new movie Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty open’s up the wrong pratices in the reality shows.It is after a very long time a film like this had hit the screen critcising such malpartices in the society.Actually it is the common man’s urge to make more money has been utilised by some bad guys.In this aspect,this film has a lot relevance and also must be seen in this angle also.
Rajiv Kumar is one of the few directors in the Malayalam industry who is not a typecast.If it is a Satyan Athicaud film we can easily say it is a family film and for Priyadarsan it is comedy.But Rajiv Kumar belong to another class. In every film he had some surprises for the viewers.
Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty is about the life of a village girl Manju who is very active with the television shows and serials.In one scene,she says I have missed only 10 episodes of a 450 mega serial.Manju’s entrances into a new kind of reality show is the subject of the movie.Manju is protrayed by Nithya Menon,Nitya had done an extraordinary performance.In Rajiv Kumar’s movies women were not just props.Nithya survived the challenge put by the director in a decent manner.Unni Mukuthan,Swetha Menon,Raju and Sidique had performed their role in highest order
One can see new movie making pattern in Thalsamayam.Real and televsion clippings were blended well and neatly.Hats off to Rajiv Kumar and his crew for bringing out such a good and relevant movie.Editor Ajith Kumar, Photographer Vinod Ellampally,Music director Sarath also stands out
