Ranjani Haridas expresses her contempt towards Jagathy Sreekumar

Topics: , ,

Ranjini Haridas hits back at Jagathy Sreeekumar, after the actor criticized her in front of the audience during the Grand Finale of the Munch Star Singer Junior. She was harshly criticized based on her performance as an anchor of the Idea Star Singer reality show. Jagathy said that she is not supposed to say comments on a singer’s performance.

Ranjini, who kept silent and smiled at the function, have now outburst her emotions in a feature written by her in ‘Deccan Chronicle’ on ‘Exercising our rights’.

“Just the other day I was the victim of an individual who took advantage of his right to freedom of speech to publicly embarrass and ridicule me. Moreover, all this happened on national television! The man in question, who from now I shall refer to as Mr. Moon, clearly overstepped the limits of what to say when and where, and to my aggravation, had no regard or respect for the event at hand or the people concerned.”, she writes.

“I guess I am just lucky that I am not scarred for life because of my thick rhino skin. I can just about imagine a teary eyed me running out of the stage weeping at being insulted by such a stalwart or even worse me getting back at him. An eye-for-an-eye, a tooth-for-a-tooth. But I had a job at hand and had to complete it”, she added.

She said that what he did was for ‘cheap publicity’ and also that she lost the respect towards him. Well, whatever it is, both of them are accepted figures in their respective fields. Jagathy’s response to her words is what remains now…

  1. what jagathy said is perfectly right.she has absolutely no musical sense and she is not supposed to judge or even say a word on the performers. She is just an anchor and ofcourse 90% of the population do understand that the channel cannot afford anybody brighter or beautiful than her.as she herself said, she is a thick skin and will bear anything thrown at her.

  2. I really can’t understand why Jagathy Sreekumar would seek out a forum like Idea Star Singer to get publicity? I mean everywhere you look, his poster is there in Kerala. I don’t think Ranjini has read the situation correctly.

  3. I happened to watch a video – Asianet Awards 2012 in Dubai which was hosted by Ranjini Haridas.in
which Shuruk Khan danced with Asin and Vidya Balan. Ranjini announced looking at Shuruk “Now you have to do ‘chamat challo’ which for viewres like me incorrigible. Suddenly Vidya commened ” now we will watch him – he may not do” What a pathetic request by the host to a superstar.? Asianet should not have assigned such animportant role to Ranjini which was rediculous. It is high time that AsianetTV search for a TV host to use proper language at least to celebraties.

  4. Dear publisher,

What moderation you need. Above is my views. Malayalees in USA like me, expect our malayalam
TV anchors/hosts etc. keep above average standards, b/c we are wellwishers of our media, not
    with a destructive eye.

  5. Most of the comments above do not acknowledge the real issue. The question is not if Renjini Haridas is a good host or if Jagathy is a good actor or human being… the question is – was it right on Jagathy’s part to use that forum to make such personal attacks (especially at someone who was sharing the same stage) ? In all sanity, the answer is “no”. I am a big fan of Jagathy. I do not like Ranjini Haridas as a host. However, I have to respect the fact that Renjini showed good temperament and did not retaliate on stage. On the other hand, what Jagathy displayed was a very cheap gimmick – a product of maleish ego & hatred towards what a so called “spoilt next gen”. While he has every right to his opinion, and many may support it, it is best expressed at the right forum. As much as a bad host Renjini is, you see her on TV, because she contributes to making that show a hit too. However big a star or veteran you may be, greatness comes in respecting others & correcting them, not mocking them in public.

    • My friend….you are saying that what Jagathy did was cheap gimmick…Like the much further comments read, I will make it clear again ‘JAGATHY DOESN’T NEED CHEAP GIMMICKS’. He told the right thing on the face. Which most people don’t, thinking and holding back just coz think what might others think if they express their views. She had it coming for a very long time, with her put up accent and irrespective attitude. So one had to do it, and I believe Jagathy gave her what she deserved. And he had made it clear that he doesn’t go for much shows and this is the stage which he got to give out his views. I for one totally support what he said, he told what thousands of us couldn’t and always wanted to. She is a good anchor but totally FAKE in all sense. And she says ‘She never wanted to get back at him’ since she had work going on for her ….What a Joke, she didn’t want to get back at him coz she knew that if she did she will only embarrass herself and let alone get the frustration from zillions of Jagathy fans.

    • i totally agree. Every place and every action has a place and time. Jagathy as a guest should have known his place and not done so. Renjini for her age showed tremendous amount of maturity and gumption.

  6. You guys are pathetic, what Jagathy did was cheap, no doubt, she’s also a human being, she also has feelings,
She slang is what keeps her different from other TV anchors, she’s doing a great job and I don’t care what others talks about her,
Why don’t you guys look at how successful you guys are before attacking Ranjini with words :P
