This Onam is very special for Salim Kumar…! Even though he missed his ‘Onasadya’, he received the National Award for Best Actor from the President of India yesterday.
Salim Kumar, who began his stage career as a mimicry artist, later became an inevitable part of the industry with his extra ordinary talents to transform himself to the inner expressions of his characters with humor. But he was something beyond a comedian. He earned the reputation of a character actor by becoming hero in Lal Jose’s ‘Achanurangatha Veedu’ and now in Salim Ahmed’s ‘Adaminte Makan Abu’.
His achievement has made the Mollywood proud. The Malayalam mimicry world which gave birth to many talented actors like Kalabhavan Mani (who got the Special Jury Award in 2000 for his marvelous performance in “Vasantiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njanum”) and Jayaram, who was awarded the Padma Shri in 2011, is now at great heights.
Hat’s off to you Salim Kumar…
