Around 41 persons drowned to death in the boat tragedy occured at Thekkady on Wednesday evening. Artistes from the shooting site of `Aagathan’ turned good Samaritans when they pressed into service their equipment to help in the rescue operations after the boat capsized. Led by Kamal, director of the movie starring actor Dileep, the artistes and unit members of the film were participated in the rescue operations near the accident site.  The shooting location was at Theni, in Tamilnadu,  nearly 16 km from Thekkady, when news broke that a boat carrying more than 76 tourists had capsized.  Immediately the team included Kamal, Innocent and Dileep stopped shooting and started to Thekkady.  The authorities informed the unit members that they required lighting equipment and generator (Anand Cine Unit) used for the shooting as there was no power supply near the accident site. Vehicles carrying the lights including par lights, which can light long distance,  were pressed into service and they reached the accident site within 20 minutes.
