
J C Foundation awards for the year 2010 was announced, and Mega star Mammootty, for his marvelous personation of ‘Aripraanchi’ in Renjith’s ‘Pranchiyettan and the Saint’, bagged the best actor award. Navya Nair, with her role in ‘Yugapurushan’ grabbed the best actress award, while Lal Jose has been selected as the best director for his ‘Elsamma Enna Aankutty’.
Lalu Alex (Shikar) and Ambika Mohan was selected as the best supporting male and female actors respectively. The awards are as follows: best newcomer Samudrakani (Shikhar), best newcomer (female) Akhila (Karyasathan), lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Nampoothiri (Yugapurushan), music director Berny Ignatious (Karyasthan), best playback singer (male) Madhu Balakrishnan (Yakshiyum Njanum), best playback singer (female) Rajalakshmi (Janakan), Best child artist (female) Baby Anikha (Katha Thudarunnu), best child artist (male) Master Vivas (Best Actor).
Television and drama awards were also announced. Papukutty Bhagavathar, cinematographer and director Balu Mahendra and drama actress Vijay Kumari, were selected for life time achievement awards for their valuable contributions to the industry. J C Daniel is the one who is considered to be the first film makers of Kerala. The awards are given to honor this great personality.
