Abhishek Bachchan and Asin will play the lead role in Ashutosh Gowariker’s next, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey. The screen adaption of journalist Manini Chatterjee’s book, Do and Die, focuses on the Chittagong uprising.
Abhishek will play the daring Surjya Sen (fondly called Masterda) who led the Chittagong Uprising.
Besides being paired for the first time, Abhishek, 33, and Asin, 23, will also be working with Ashutosh for the first time. In addition, Ashutosh will be teaming up with PVR Pictures for the first time for co-producing the film.
“This will be the first time that Abhishek and Asin will be paired opposite each other. The film’s first schedule will tentatively start around November 25,” a source told Mumbai Mirror.
Talking about his new project, Ashutosh had earlier said, “Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey is about the Chittagong Uprising of 1930. I have purchased the rights of the book Do and Die by Manini Chatterjee.”
Asin, who debuted in Ghajini with co-star Aamir Khan is awaiting the release of her second film, London Dreams, due in theaters on October 30.
Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey will be Asin’s third Bollywood film.
After having been panned for the 3 hour 20 mts duration of his recently released film What’s your Rashee?, Ashutosh now promises to keep his story telling crisp.
“This one (Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey) will only be 2 hours long!!!” he says.
